Harm of dry operation of centrifugal pump

The inlet medium of the pump is not sufficient or the inlet pressure is not enough, or the water intake pipe of the pump is blocked, or the air in the pump cavity is not drained out, which will lead to the idling of the centrifugal pump. Idling does great harm to the pump, which may cause cavitation or damage to the mechanical seal.

(1) deal with the clearance position of the centrifugal pump and expand it under permissible conditions.

(2) to deal with the special technology of centrifugal pump shaft, quenching and tempering, heat treatment, etc., to improve hardness and use materials with low flexibility to prevent large swings and death during idling.

(3) use machine seals and packing cavities that do not need to be lubricated by liquid media.

(4) choose closed self-lubricating bearings without refueling.

(5) set up idling induction system. The water pump is monitored in real time through modern equipment. When the centrifugal pump is idle, it will give an alarm immediately and stop automatically to protect the safety of the unit.

(6) compared with other centrifugal pumps, the volume space of the pump cavity of the horizontal self-priming centrifugal pump is larger and has a position where water can be stored. Before the normal operation of the self-priming centrifugal pump, the pump cavity should be filled with liquid. There is a period of self-priming time before operation, during which the air is continuously discharged from the pump, which belongs to partial idle speed.
